Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the www.darlingo.co website and the Darlingo mobile application (the “Service”) operated by Darlingo Limited (“us”, “we”, or “our”).

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with this Policy. By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.

Face Data & Biometric Information UPDATED

What Face Data We Collect

During the registration process, users are required to submit a profile photograph. This image is analysed solely to verify the presence of a real human face and to detect the user’s gender as part of our user authentication and platform safety compliance process.

How We Use Face Data

The face data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes:
  • To verify that the registering user is a real, authentic individual (not a bot or fake account).
  • To detect the user’s gender using Amazon Rekognition, a third-party AI service, to ensure only valid and eligible users are approved on the platform.
  • To support manual review and approval of each user account by our administrative team before granting access.
We do not use face data for advertising, tracking, profiling, or any purpose beyond user verification and platform safety.

Third-Party Processing & Storage

The face photo is temporarily transmitted to Amazon Rekognition (Amazon Web Services), a third-party AI service, solely for gender detection and face validation. Amazon processes the image in accordance with their data privacy policy and does not retain or use the face data for their own purposes beyond executing the API request. The face photo is not stored on our servers. It is used only in real-time during the verification step and is immediately discarded once Amazon Rekognition returns the result. Retention of Face Data

The face photo submitted during registration is used solely for the purpose of real-time verification and is not stored, saved, or retained on our servers at any point. The image is transmitted directly to Amazon Rekognition for processing and is immediately discarded after the verification result is returned. Only the outcome of the verification (verified / not verified) is saved in our systems — no face image or biometric data is retained by Darlingo Limited.

Policy Statement on Face Data

“During registration, the app temporarily processes a user-submitted photo using Amazon Rekognition, a third-party AI service, solely to verify the authenticity of the user and detect gender as part of our user safety and compliance process. The face photo is not stored or retained by Darlingo Limited at any point. Face data is not used for advertising or tracking purposes and is not sold to any third party. Only the outcome of the verification is saved.”

User Rights Regarding Face Data

Users may request deletion of their profile photograph and associated face data at any time by contacting us at hello@darlingo.co. Upon verified request, we will permanently delete the image from our systems within 30 days.

Darlingo Limited uses the collected data for various purposes:
  • To provide and maintain our Service
  • To notify you about changes to our Service
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service
  • To provide customer support
  • To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Service
  • To monitor the usage of our Service
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data (GDPR)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), Darlingo Limited’s legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described in this Privacy Policy depends on the Personal Data we collect and the specific context in which we collect it. Darlingo Limited may process your Personal Data because:
  • We need to perform a contract with you
  • You have given us permission to do so
  • The processing is in our legitimate interests and it is not overridden by your rights
  • For payment processing purposes
  • To comply with the law

Retention of Data

Darlingo Limited will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period, except when used to strengthen security or improve functionality, or where we are legally obligated to retain it for longer periods.

Transfer of Data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United Kingdom and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer and process the data in the United Kingdom.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer. Darlingo Limited will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Disclosure of Data

Business Transaction

If Darlingo Limited is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Disclosure for Law Enforcement

Under certain circumstances, Darlingo Limited may be required to disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).
